I'm a Blogstar And You Are Too!

** Editor's Note: I had this post scheduled to post on Tuesday, when I went to do my WILW post I quickly realized I forgot to hit the publish button- lesson learned!**

Hi Friends! Happy Tuesday Wednesday! Thank you so much for visiting my little corner of the blog world... well actually I don't have a corner because the world is a sphere... I digress.

Today I'm linking up with Mrs. Monologues for Blog Star! If you are new to my blog please, please, please leave a comment and/or follow me on GFC (Google Friend Connect) so I can follow you back! I love to find new blog friends :) You can also find me on Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads and Instagram by clicking on the buttons to the right -->

So a little about me. I'm almost (August 31) a mid-twenties girl living the single life in Henderson, Nevada. I just moved here a little less than a month ago for 2 main reasons; 1) I got a 3rd grade teaching job and 2) It has warm weather. It was also a huge plus that my closest friend Christine lives here and we'll be teaching at the same school!

I love to blog about my life, my students, and my loved ones. Blog link-ups make my day and I am always meeting new blog friends. I also love to cook, be with friends Christine, and am working on finishing my Master's from Michigan State University. In my free time Before bed I like to read so if you have any book suggestions please let me know!

Here are a few of my favorite posts and please be sure to check out my pages to find out more about me, my loved ones, and the blogs I follow!

Thank you again for reading! And be sure to link up with Mrs. Monologues- It's not too late!

Kyle's Bachelorette Weekend: Santa Monica Day 1

Last week at this time I was driving back from California. Wow that is crazy for me to say! If you had told me last year "Elle, you'll be living in Las Vegas, teaching, and living only 3 hours away from California and the ocean and you'll visit Hollywood" I would say you are were a liar and I would never do anything like that. I would be wrong.

Last week Christine's friend Kyle came to visit. She's getting married in September and this trip was a bachelorette trip. Her friend Alex came too and we all hit it off and became fast friends! Yay, I really love having new friends and these girls are something special :)

Disclaimer: these are just a few of the pics from the trip... there were over 300 thanks to Alex.

Kyle and Alex really wanted to go to Freemont St. so Sunday night we hit it up.
Kyle, Christine, & I

Freemont St. is pretty awesome. There were concerts, and tons and tons of people watching. We happened to be there when there was a deaf conference there. All 4 of us girls new about 4 signs between us. It was very interesting to watch.

My favorite show of the night was this 80s band. They played all the greats and were really good! We also got great standing positions because we were maybe 4 of 10 hearing people...

Every hour the lights on the street go out and the ceiling lights up and there is an awesome light show. The first one we saw was a dedication to Queen and this awesome keyboard came on the ceiling.

The next day we decided to take a road trip! I had just gotten my new car and needed to break her in! We googled mapped it and Hollywood and Santa Monica were only 3 1/2 hours away. Christine and Kyle found an amazing deal on a 4 star hotel and we loaded up the car and took off.

First stop was the Hollywood sign!

All the girls :)

Then we drove to Hollywood Walk of Fame and walked the whole thing... interesting fact... there are many duplicate stars!

Kyle & Alex @ Hooters

We were very excited... and STARVING!
Alex and I really wanted to go through Beverly Hills and thankfully Christine & Kyle didn't have any objections. I mean really who wouldn't want to see where Pretty Woman was filmed or Beverly Hills Nannies or the House Wives of Beverly Hills?! W felt pretty awesome because my new car kinda fit right in. Christine decided that I was in high school and just given the car as a birthday present.... Yea... I wish! ;)

Rodeo Drive!

Beautiful Drive!!

After cruising through we hopped on Santa Monica Blvd and went to our hotel. When we got there Christine and Kyle worked their magic and got us upgraded to a bigger room and on a corner so it had a view! Thank goodness it was Kyle's bachelorette weekend ;)

Our hotel was a few blocks away from the beach so we quickly changed and headed straight there to lay on the beach, swim in the ocean and take some pics...

We really wanted to celebrate Kyle with a nice dinner so I hopped on Groupon & Yelp and found a nice restaurant. Actually it was the best restaurant EVER!! Delicious Italian food and great service! If you are ever in Santa Monica hit up Spumoni!

After dinner we went out for a few drinks. I mean what is a bachelorette weekend without going out to a bar?! The concierge at the hotel recommend Circle Bar and that's where we headed. We were nervous at first because there was us and maybe 4 other people but they were so nice and it quickly filled up!

Circle Bar!

Kyle and the men who bought her a bottle of champagne!

Cheers!!!
The day was so much fun and there are so many good memories! Come back tomorrow to read about our 2nd day and the terrifying bird incident!!!

Weekend Update: Computer Crashes and Ulta

Hi friends!

I've missed all my bloggy friends dearly but I had to take some time off to oh you know move across the country!! I also had to set up my apartment, get my new car, and work on my master's classes. To say I've been a tad busy is an understatement but I'm LOVING every day of my life.

I'm so excited to link up with these fabulous girls again for the weekend blog update!

It's amazing how now that I have Christine near by how busy I am! I love being able to go and do things with her or just hang out at one of our apartments and play with Elvis (the dog, not the king).

This past week I got my new computer from Tracky!! Tracky is an awesome online collaboration website and they gave me a new Macbook Pro 17in. Screen for winning their raffle through twitter! I can tell I'm going to use Tracky a lot in my classroom and for my master's classes. The best part? They are locally based in Las Vegas!

Anyways I was in the middle of transferring my computers when my old one died! I didn't freak out I just powered down and tried to start it again... then a blank screen appeared with a flashing ?. Then I began my freakout. Took it to the Apple Store just to hear the bad news... my hard drive is gone and I lost everything! If anyone knows how to recover hard drives please let me know!!!

To cheer me up I did some retail therapy with Christine at Ulta. They had a deal going where if you purchased $30 in fragrance you received this awesome tote on wheels. Perfect for weekend getaways! They also had a sale on my 2 favorite perfumes, Happy by Clinique and Twirl by Kate Spade! I was a happy girl when I left :)

It was a good weekend and I'm so happy to be blogging back on a regular basis! I've been trying to keep up with all of your lovely blogs but will be doing a large part of that today :)

Happy Monday Friends!!

Foodie Pen Pal July

Hi Friends!!!

I've missed all of you!! It's been a very long time but I've been SOOOO busy. More on that in a later post... or follow me on Instagram!

My foodie pen pal for the month of July was Alek Prus @ Run Serve Cook. I have to be completely honest, when I first heard I had a 15 year old boy sending me a box I was a little nervous... I mean what would a 15 yr. old boy have in common with a 23 yr. old woman?!

Thankfully food bridged our gap and I received one of the best boxes ever!! There is a lack of pictures because I got my box right when I moved and well... the food was devoured before I took pics.

Items
1) 0 calorie rice... I haven't tried this yet but it seems.... interesting

2) A huge selection of granola/protein bars and oatmeal! These were so helpful with my move because they were easy to grab and filling!

3) Canned Chicken! I love canned chicken and I used this can to make chicken helper :)

4) Squash! I have yet to cook this little baby but I plan on roasting it in the oven!

 5) A full dark chocolate bar that had cranberries and almonds! It was SOOO GOOD!!!!

6) A jar of Granma Mimi's jam. Best thing ever. Seriously had it gone in a week.

7) Veggie chips! The ranch flavor were my favorite!

8) A whole bunch of drink mixes including tea, appletini crystal light, and jones soda and izze pop!

9) Some more candy! Cliff Kids fruit rope, hershey kisses, and a 90 calorie brownie :)

10) To go peanut butters and nuts! I received a chocolate peanut butter & co and a jiff to go. Also some chocolate sunflower seeds!

Alek definitely was the most... intense and funny foodie pen pal I have had yet. His blog is full of food ideas and fitness.  Thank you for such a great box!!
