The Nail Files

I can't believe it's Friday already! This week went by super fast for me, which is good, I'll take it!

Last night I needed a break from throwing my stuff out packing and I had a groupon to use so I decided to get a mani and pedi. I like shellac but the last one didn't turn out so well and my hands were really dry and the skin was peeling so I decided to not do shellac this time. As I was talking to the lady doing my pedicure she asked why I didn't want shellac and I explained. She then told me that if I rub cuticle oil (which I have a lot of little bottles of) then that will help.

Pedicure color: Lola by Orly
She also said I can paint a color OVER my french shellac and take it off and it won't ruin my shellac at all! Score! I don't think I'll be doing it because french nails are classic and go with everything but it's good to know for the future! Happy Friday!!

TC+ TL+ NF= Happy Friday!

Ok let's get real here. It's Friday. I'm beyond happy that it's finally the weekend.

I'm rockin the shellac mani from last week

I get to go to my happy place in TC.

I plan on eating good food, drinking a lot few glasses of wine, and spending my days on Torch Lake.

I'm most excited to spend this time with just my parents. To relax and not think about the million other things going on in my life.

I hope you all get a weekend like this too!!

And a huge shout out to Cait because it's her Wedding Day!!!

The Nail Files & June Yoga Challenge

Hello! This is for you!

I'm so happy it's finally Friday! This week went by so slow for me. I'm more than ready for the weekend which will be spent by my pool during the day and at night I'll be packing. It'll be good times, good times.

Speaking of good times I'm linking up with Vicki & Tara for The Nail Files. My shellac mani lasted exactly 3 weeks but with the new growth I had to get them redone. I went for shellac again but with a more bubblegum color.

In other news it's the last link-up of Courtney's June Yoga Challenge :(

My Goal: 3 sessions/week.
Actual: I only did 2 this week :(. I'm bummed I didn't get the last session in but this crazy heat and humidity have been messing with my body and my apartment was extremely hot earlier this week. I just couldn't do it.

I have loved this challenge though. Incorporating yoga into my fitness has been great. It's really helped me stretch out my body and I feel less sore. I also didn't realize how many different types of yoga there are, different ways to do it (classes, videos, etc). and how many free resources there are. I'm definitely not ready for a class (public eyes shouldn't see me do yoga) but I really like doing the videos at home. Previous recaps Week 1, Week 2, Week 3.  Thank you so much Courtney for hosting this challenge!

Happy Happy Friday!!

June Yoga Challenge Week 3 & Nail Files

Good Morning Friends! I must say that I'm having a good morning because of this little baby

Blueberry + cinnamon nut coffee= goodness!

Now let's get to the highlights of the post

I can't believe it's been 3 weeks of this challenge! I'm definitely starting to see physical improvements but my running has greatly improved! My legs feel stronger and less sore after I run. I look forward to doing yoga now and feel better after I do it. Thank you Courtney for having this awesome challenge!

Challenge: Do yoga 3x week
Actual: I did 3 sessions. I'm really enjoying the pre & post run yoga sessions on Do Yoga With Me. I also did 1 session of Candlelight Yoga on Netflix.

I really like doing these yoga sessions on my computer in the privacy of my own room. I'm still not confident enough to go to classes.

**
I really like linking-up with Vicki for The Nail Files because I love to see what colors and designs others are using.

I'm still rocking the shellac mani from 2 weeks ago! I definitely have a lot of new growth and am ready for another but there are still no chips in the polish!

I hope you all have a wonderful Friday! Be sure to link-up with Neely & Ashley for Social Sunday! You can find the questions here.

June Yoga Challenge Week 2 & Nail Files

It's Friday. I'm not nearly as excited about it as I was last week. I'm working 12 hours today and 6 hours tomorrow. Granted I have an easy job (I'm a student monitor at a library/computer lab) but I see the beautiful weather, my parent's going up north, and my to-do list a mile long and it's the last place I want to be. Oh well gotta make the $$ somehow!

2 good things about Fridays are my link-ups with Courtney & Vicki!

You can see last week's link-up here. If you haven't seen this around the bloggy world it's a great challenge and you can get the deets here. Courtney created it and you can set your own rules which is nice because we're all at different levels. My challenge is to do yoga 3x/week.

What I did this week:
(2) sessions of Jillian Michael's Yoga Slimdown. I really like this video because it does add cardio and I always feel the burn.

(1) I did Do Yoga With Me again. I love this website because you can choose your difficulty, length, style and teacher and they give you a ton of free "classes". I did the beginner's Yoga for Leg Strength and really enjoyed it. I'm lucky to have a Wii so I could watch it online through that but if you have to watch it on your computer it might be a little difficult. I highly recommend the site though!

This week I didn't do any new videos for the challenge. The week flew by and I went with what I knew. I hope to challenge myself more this coming week and try a Barre3 session that Courtney recommended. Maybe I'll even win her giveaway and try some new videos ;) I'm definitely seeing an improvement in my flexibility and mentally it was a great stress reliever. Join the challenge if you haven't already!!

I'm still rockin the mani/pedi from last week. My sister told me that once "you go shellac, you won't go back" and I'm thinking she's right. Even though I have some new growth the polish hasn't chipped and still looks really good. Totally worth the $5 extra dollars!

P.S Please don't forget to follow me on Google Friend Connect I'm loving all the new followers and like to read your blogs!!

June Yoga Challenge, Week 1 and Nail Files

It's FRIDAY!! The day I have been waiting for ALL WEEK :) I'm working till 12 then peacing out to go to my parent's home and then up north to the beautiful T.C. To say I'm excited is an understatement. But before I leave I have a few link-ups to get to ;)

 June Yoga Challenge!!
The most awesome Courtney organized June Yoga Challenge. At first I was hesitant. I'm awful at classes and have no money to go so I wasn't sure I would even DO yoga. But after a little research I found a lot of videos online and my library has a ton that I can check out! I figured what the hay and went for it.

My Challenge: Do 3 yoga sessions/week

Actual: I did 3! Whoo whoo :)
  • The first one I did was one I found on Netflix. It's Crunch Candlelight Yoga. I liked it because it was very calming and soothing. The instructor was easy to follow and the motion of the moves was easy to understand. Great for a 1st time.
  • The 2nd one I wanted to challenge myself a bit more. After reading Courtney's review of Jillian Michaels I thought I'd give it a try. I did level 1 and phew was it hard! It was a workout within itself and I was SORE the next day!
  • The 3rd video I did came from Do Yoga With Me.
So overall I've had good experiences. I definitely love the stretching but haven't seen huge differences yet. I do feel like it calms me down and lets me check out mentally for a little bit. Next week I'm hoping to do Jillian 2x at least and possibly try a running yoga class that a local fitness store offers. We'll see :)

 The Nail Files
I love linking up with Vicki and Tara for the nail files because I love to see all the fun colors people are using! This week I was able to get a mani/pedi because I had a groupon!

I opted for the spa pedi and shellac mani. I'm excited to see how long my mani will last! I wanted fun, summery, pinks so on my toes I have OPI That's Hot!Pink and on my fingers I have CND Hot Pop Pink.

Are you rockin some pretty nails? Link-up and share what your fave colors are :)

Happy Friday!!

Nail Files & Foodie Pen Pals... OH MY!!

Hi Friends! Phew we made it to Friday!!! This week has gone by fast and slow at the same time... is that possible? My days were very full this week with fun things but that will come this weekend :) For now let's get to 2 very important things!

I'm linking up with Vicki and Tara for The Nail Files! Now that I finally have my nights free I can paint my nails :) This week I wanted to do a lighter color and went through my stash of OPI to find Hearthrob! I love this pink because it's a lighter shade but with a coat of white underneath it makes the color pop!

If you love painting you nails make sure you link up and share what colors :)

Now, yesterday (Thursday) was crazy busy and I didn't get a chance to post about my foodie pen-pal box! But today is the day my friends and I'm excited to share! My box came from Robin in Texas! I've never been but I hear everything is bigger ;)

When I opened my box I first saw these 2 lovely goodies... Ginger snaps and caramel w/ nuts... yumm!

Then how could I miss these beautiful towels? I love bright colors, especially in kitchens. They will go perfectly in my new one!

I think Robin has ESP because I JUST ran out of honey!

She also threw in a bunch of these sweet candies & mints. I love to have these with me in my car and purse for a quick sugar high. And the mint tube? It's eco friendly!

 Sangria+Jelly=Love

Hehe I'm nuts for you Robin!

I love Lara Bars but I haven't had these two flavors in awhile! I love that they are mini like me!

I also received some awesome new tea's to try! I already broke into the Passion one and paired it with some lemonade. It's the bomb-diggity... seriously try it!

Thank you Robin for all the wonderful goodies!!

If you want to see what I sent to Maria click here :)

Now, here's the deets on this Foodie Pen Pal program!
-On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!

-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received.
