Why I Love Teaching

Hi Friends! I can't believe it's Saturday already! Whoo Hoo! So far I've slept in (8 am), had coffee, ate breakfast, read blogs, and have done nothing on my to-do list. Oh well it's still early in the day :)

If you've read my posts before you know that I just got done with my teaching internship. I did it in a 3rd/4th grade school and my placement was in a 4th grade classroom. I LOVE the teacher's I worked with and since ending in April, I have been back to the school at least once a week just to say hi :) This coming week is the last week of school so I've been going back more frequently to help with fun events.

1) Kidstown! Kidstown is an economic lesson that ALL the 4th grade classes do. The kids earn "money" by bidding on classroom jobs and getting paid a salary. They make shops and decide what products and services they want to sell. Then for 3 days (1 hr/day) the students are allowed to go to all the shops and buy goods and services. It was so fun to go and see everything, all my students put in such hard work!
Getting my toenails painted by Travis :)

I got my hair braided and colored by Sam (4th grade boy!)

Claire getting her nails painted by Mitchell

2) To raise money for our Big Zoo Trip the teachers I taught with (Rachel & Emily) decided to do a McTeacher Night! I got to sell cookies, work the register, and meet Ronald McDonald! Oh and we raised $635 in 4 hours!
3) Yesterday (Friday) the kids had Field day! It rained ALL DAY so it had to be inside but the kids did great! My class was honored with the compliment of being the best behaved class :) I didn't take many pictures but I got one really good one of Aidan falling down!

Well it was a fun filled Friday but now I'm off to spend some time with this cutie!

Seriously Sick of Crossfit

Warning... I will probably offend some readers, and if so I am sorry. I have been feeling this way for awhile and tonight put me over the edge...

The edge of ANNOYANCE with CROSSFIT!!! I know that everyone's blog is for themselves, and it's our own sounding bored, rant page, etc... however.... please give your readers full disclosure when you are changing the topic of your blog to only crossfit. I realize that it is a great workout program, and I give all of you props for doing it. I just really wish I wouldn't read a blog a day about it and only it! Phew.. End Rant... and hopefully I still have some readers ;)

In other news... I have some fun stories from my fantastic 4th graders :)

- "Ms. Hattan, you look like a real teacher sitting behind the desk at the computer!"

-"Ms. Hattan, Michigan State is going down... just like you did when you tripped!!" ---Umm yea... that happened!

-Today I tried to pull down the overhead... we lost our "puller" and I had to jump to reach it.. that got the WHOLE CLASS LAUGHING AT ME!

I'm sorry this is a random, rant, no picture post but it's been a long day and I'm pooped. Tomorrow will be better... I promise :)

Ms. Hattan...

Umm can I just first say that it is 11 pm and I feel like I'm about to fall asleep at my desk as I type this post. Thus this post may have side effects of misspelling, rambling, and out of order pictures.

So you may be wondering about my post title. Well here we go...

My last name is Hattan, and at school I am ONLY known as Ms. Hattan. I am student teaching in a 4th grade class and today was my first day back. Here is how my day went (the pictures are from our Christmas Party before holiday break):

Ms. Hattan it's snowing!
Ms. Hattan like my shirt? It was a Christmas Present.

Ms. Hattan your team (MSU) won yesterday did you watch?

Ms. Hattan I got new shoes!

Ms. Hattan I stayed up till 2 am on NYE!
( When I told this student that I was asleep by 12:30 he proceeded to call me OLD!)

Ms. Hattan I'm hungry.

Ms. Hattan I'm tired.

Ms. Hattan, Ms. Hattan, Ms. Hattan!!!

Yep... I missed these cuties ;)

3 Random Questions... Please Help!!

Well it's Sunday night again, I know this night comes every week but I still dread it every time. I had this big long post about how difficult my past week has been but I decided to save that for a later date, a date where I'm a bit more peppy and feeling like myself. To help ease my mind I've decided to ask all my bloggy friends for help. Please pass this on to someone if you know they can help!

So here are my questions in no important order:

1) I love linking to different blogs when I see/ use their fantastic ideas; How can I tell if someone has linked to my blog?

2) Beginning in January I will start looking for teaching jobs. Right now I'm really looking at North Carolina, South Carolina, or Georgia. Anyone have any other ideas? Do you currently work/live/teach in any of these states and have thoughts?

3) I am absolutely loving my Iphone 4 but I need help finding good, fun, cheap (preferably free) apps!! Give em' to me!

As stated before please pass on this post if you know someone who might be able to help answer 1 or all of these questions.

Change. Part 2.

If you've read my blog before you'll know I've talked about change, But here's the gist, I HATE Change! However, I know it's necessary and as of lately it's been on the forefront of my mind. Being who I am I Googled the word "change" and this little poem popped up and it describes my thoughts perfectly! Whoo hoo for Google and this awesome writer!

A Poem About Change: Maybe it's me Heart racing

Mind pacing

So many changes in motion

New roads that are now open

Which way to turn?

Which way to go?

No answers easily seen

I must carve my own path of green

Struggling to hold on

Trying to hold on

Trying to keep the things I need

Struggling to let go

Giving back the ties that bind me

Who will I be?

How will I know?

Who is that woman at the end of the road?

Maybe, just maybe, it's me.

*****************************************************************************

As of lately I've decided to make some changes and see where they lead me. I'm no longer living for anyone else, only me. I've cut loose some friends and gained some new ones. I've realized that I need to be stronger in my decisions and know that I'm doing what is right for me.

In regards to this blog I'm not going to focus on health and fitness like I originally planned. I'll still mention it and any good recipes I make or come up with but I want to focus on my life. I'm a student teacher, taking graduate classes on Fridays, figuring out family, friends, and love. I'm balancing the life of a college student, working for free, holding down 2 other jobs, and trying to grow up and make some life long decisions. This blog is going to reflect that in so many ways and I'm going to be completely honest (according to my Mother, too honest!)

I hope you'll keep reading because I like to think I'm at least a little interesting ;)

P.S

Right now my days are being consumed by little munchkins called my students. I have TONS of teaching stories so if you want to read those visit my other blog here. I swear it'll be a good time!
