Weekend Update Blog Hop

Why do Mondays come so fast? I mean it seems like it was just Friday!

My weekend was pretty low key. 

Friday 

I had to work in the am then I ran a few errands, worked out and did homework. I also watched the first night of the Olympic trials for women's gymnastics. Go Jordyn!

Saturday

I tried to sleep in but it just didn't work so I was up and at 'em at 7 am. I got a decent workout in (HIT elliptical and treadmill & weights) but my heart wasn't in it. Maybe because the gym was filled with beefed up guys grunting every 10 seconds...

I was able to cross 2 things off my Pinterest though! I had a coupon for Bed, Bath & Beyond and their mason jars were on sale! I picked up a case and made salads, and flavored water and lemonades. So tasty and easy to do! 

Sunday

I was lucky enough to meet up with the rents for breakfast. I wanted to take them to the best place on earth Golden Harvest but they were closed. We decided on a little place called Theios. It was good, we all got the egg, hashbrown & bacon special. But after I felt really sick. The food just sat in my stomach like a rock so I spent the rest of the day laying in bed trying to feel better.

Later that night I watched the 2nd part of the gymnastic trials and cried my eyes out when Jordyn Wieber was announced! This is going to be a great year for the girls!

Welcome to my new blog! I decided that A College Girl's Guide to Life was just that. It was a wonderful blog that I started when I was in college. With new life experierences happening (Las Vegas), and not being in school anymore I needed to re-brand my blog.

 My weekend was pretty boring and pictureless. It was filled with homework, work, grocery shopping and pinning.

I'm currently watching Chelsea Handler and it's the Father's Day episode. Hilarious!

On Saturday I got a great workout in! I did 45 min on the elliptical, 15 on the treadmill (HIT), and 10 min. solutions target toning- all 6 workouts. I felt so good afterwards!

I know I've mentioned this once or twice but I'm in LOVE with White Collar Matt Bomer is as almost good looking as Channing Tatum!

Miscellany Monday: Happy Happy Weekend

I really can't believe it's Monday already. Thankfully the most awesome Carissa does a link-up so it makes it a little easier. Here are some miscellany musings from my weekend :)

After work on Friday I went to my parent's house and we made the 3 hour ride up north. One of our favorite restaurants is called TraVino's and I begged my parents to go. Thankfully they complied and I had the BEST Caesar salad (with anchovies) and mushroom ravioli.

After dinner we had to pick up a few groceries for our weekend. In TC there is this awesome meat/deli/liquor store that we always go to. It's fun to go and browse the new wines they get and their speciality beers. Plus when the parent's offer to pay it doesn't hurt ;) I've been wanting to try Shock Top for awhile and it was on special, win-win.

All I wanted to do this weekend was go out on our boat and relax. And that is all I did (plus some running in the a.m). The beautiful thing about Torch lake is how BEAUTIFUL it really is. These pics don't do it justice at all. The water looks like the carribean and it's so big you never have to be by any other boats. My parent's and I just sat on our boat, drinking, reading, and sleeping for hours on Saturday and Sunday.

Don't pay attention to the date, the view is always the same :)

This is a daily thing @ our cabin. The date doesn't matter ;)

When Sunday night came around we cooked burgers before we left and then headed home. We made it back to my parents at 9 and I just wasn't ready to go back to my place. I stayed the night and finished off a relaxing weekend with a Peace Tea and watching Food Network Star. Life was good this weekend... now if  only Monday didn't have to come around :(

Miscellany Monday: Jake's Awesomeness

 Hi All!! I can't believe it's Monday already! I've tried a few different link-ups for Mondays but I really like Carissa's and think I'll stick to it! So here goes my miscellany Monday and it is very miscellany :)

1) Looking at my calendar for the week and it's completely jammed packed BUT look at FRIDAY!!

2) I am really disliking my blog lately. It's not lining up right on the page, I don't like the title because I'm not in college anymore and the worst is I'm awful at creating new blog designs but don't have any $$ to spend on a new one. Anyone have any advice/help?!

3) I have 3 new followers! Whoo hoo! Welcome girls I'm happy to have you :)

4) There is about to be a photo dump. I don't think you'll mind because they are awesome pics of my favorite little boy (nephew Jacob). I got to spend Saturday with him and we had so much fun!! 1st we had his baseball game and then we went to the Michigan State Children's Gardens (FREE!) and the MSU Dairy Store for ice cream :) He also chose the title of the blog post!

5) I'm so excited because when I opened my Google Reader there was a post from My Twenties Blog! These girls are positively awesome and you should read them NOW :) Plus they are doing giveaways all week!

6) The most beautiful Neely is doing another giveaway! It's for EmiJay hair ties which I absolutely love because you can wear them on your wrist or in your hair and they are FASHIONABLE!

Miscellany Monday

Why hello! I'm glad you could take time to read my blog on this Monday evening. I'm linking up with Carissa for Miscellany Monday and you should too!!

1) Lately I have been cooking up a storm with Pinterest ideas! I'm loving trying all the new ideas and have yet to find one I don't like!

 

2) I miss my students. A lot! But I'm also enjoying not having the stress of lesson plans, professor visits, and graduate class work. 

3) Today at work I organized my google reader, repinned my Pinterest  pins to make more sense, and made lists in Twitter- I like being organized.

4) I keep seeing updates about the Blend Retreat and it looks like so much fun! Maybe one day I will go...

5) I'm currently reading Wicked by Gregory Maguire but I'm needing some more book recommendations... anyone have some? Please?!
